Fl. Musc. Chin. Boreali-Orient. 380. f. 98. 1977. Type. China: Jilin (Kirin), Mt. Changbai, C. Gao 1188 (holotype IFSBH).
This variety differs from var. angustatus by its completely immersed capsules, long-subulate leaf apices nearly as long as the laminal length, and entire leaf margins.
