general taxon notes:
The particularly slender plants and the mammillae at the back surfaces of leaf cells make this species distinguishable from other species.

Plants slender, yellowish green, slightly shiny, in loose tufts. Primary stems creeping, 3–4 cm long, irregularly pinnately branched; paraphyllia few. Leaves appressed on stems, obviously secund when dry, spreading when moist, slightly concave, ovate at base, contracted to piliferous upward to the apex, usually secund, 0.7–0.9 mm × 0.5–0.6 mm; basal margins somewhat narrowly involute; costa slender, forked, ending below middle of the leaf; upper and median cells round-quadrate to elongate-hexagonal, to 10–15 µm long, obviously projecting at upper ends on back surfaces, more obvious on tender leaves; basal cells near margins flatly quadrate to quadrate; cells along costa rectangular. Sporophytes not seen.
