Plants slender, stiff, yellowish green above, brownish to dark brown below, in loose tufts. Stems erect, 4–6 cm high, simple, with dense rhizoids at base. Leaves sparse, erect-spreading when dry, linear-lanceolate to linear, slender; margins differentiated, with 2–4 layers of thick-walled cells, single- or double-toothed nearly throughout; costae percurrent, dentate at back; leaf cells nearly isodiametric, or rounded-quadrate, rounded-hexagonal, thick-walled. Synoicous or autoicous. Setae solitary, arising from the base of stems, slender, ca. 4.0 cm long; capsules inclined, oblong-ovoid to short-cylindrical, longitudinally plicate; opercula rostrate; peristome double; endostomal basal membrane high; cilia 2–3, well developed, nodulose. Calyptrae cucullate, smooth. Spores spherical, ca. 15–18 µm in diameter, smooth or minutely roughened.
