Habitat: on bark of trees in needle and broad-leaved mixed forests, sometimes on rocks; alt. 3700 m.
Distribution: China, Korea, Russia, Europe, and North America.

Morphologically, this species is similar to Iwatsukiella leucotricha (Mitt.) Buck & Crum; however, it differs from the latter in having a short leaf apex and single peristome teeth.

Öfvers. Forh. Kongl. Svenska Vetensk.-Akad. 20: 401. 1863. Pterogonium perpusillum De Not., Musc. Ital. Spec. 84. 1838. Type. Italy: Sardinia, Villacidro.
The description of this species is the same as that of genus.
