Plants medium-sized, green or yellowish green, yellowish brown when old, usually in interwoven patches. Stems prostrate, up to 5 cm long, regularly pinnately branched; central strand present; paraphyllia lineariform to lanceolate, densely on stems, sparsely or absent on branches. Stem leaves appressed when dry, gradually prolonged to a slender apex from a widely ovate base, up to 1.2 mm long; leaf margins plane or partly revolute, serrate; costa excurrent, rarely percurrent or extending below leaf apex; median leaf cells triangular to hexagonal, about 5–20 µm wide, thin-walled, unipapillose; basal median leaf cells rectangular, smooth; branch leaves widely ovate, with a short lanceolate apex; costa ending below leaf apex or slightly excurrent. Perichaetial leaves oblong-ovate at base, costa excurrent, forming a piliform apex. Setae slender, about 2 cm long, reddish brown, smooth; capsule inclined, ca. 2 mm long, constricted below mouth; peristome double; exostome teeth yellowish brown, broadly lanceolate, striate below, papillose above; endostome segments nearly as long as exostome teeth, yellowish, finely papillose; basal membrane about 1/2 the length of endostome segments; cilia 2–3. Spores about 15 µm in diameter, papillose.
