Rhynchostegiella formosana Sakurai, Bot. Mag. (Tokyo) 46: 744. 1932.
Plants medium-sized, yellowish green or brownish green, glossy, in thin, flat mats. Stems slender, prostrate, leafy stems complanate, irregularly pinnately branched. Stem leaves smaller, narrowly lanceolate; branch leaves larger, oblong-lanceolate, 1.5–2.2 mm × 0.4–0.7 mm, plane, gradually tapering into a long acumen; margins distinctly serrulate above, entire below; costae thin, faint, mostly ending below mid-leaf, sometimes only to ca. 1/3 the leaf length, not projecting at tips; median leaf cells linear, 110–135 µm × 10–11 µm, smooth, thin-walled; apical and basal cells shorter; alar cells somewhat differentiated, oblong-rectangular. Sporophytes not seen.
