Plants rather stout, yellowish green, somewhat glossy, in dense mats. Stems prostrate, densely irregularly branched, branches ca. 1.5 cm long, julaceous, blunt or attenuate at tips. Stem leaves imbricate when dry, erect-spreading when moist, shortly ovate-lanceolate, 2.25–2.45 mm × 0.8–1.2 mm, usually multi-plicate, truncate at insertion, shortly narrowly acute or acuminate at apex; margins entire below, serrulate above; costae to well above mid-leaf to leaf apex; median leaf cells linear, 52–70 µm × 4–5 µm; alar cells and basal cells differentiated, quadrate or hexagonal, thick-walled, not hyaline; branch leaves smaller, similar to stem leaves in shape. Sporophytes not seen.
