Plants medium-sized, green, yellowish green, or brownish green, glossy, in loosely caespitose mats. Stems prostrate, to ca. 5 cm long, irregularly branched, denuded in older parts; in cross section cortical cells small, in 2–3 layers, thick-walled; central strand weakly differentiated; pseudoparaphyllia absent. Stem leaves spreading, or distinctly falcate-secund, oblong-ovate, 1.5–1.7 mm × ca. 0.5 mm, concave; costae short, double, ending below the middle of leaf; margins entire, serrulate above; median leaf cells vermicular, ca. 50 mm × 4 mm; basal cells yellowish, thick-walled, porose; alar cells abruptly enlarged, round-quadrate, thin-walled, hyaline or yellowish, forming a well-defined auricle. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves erect, gradually acuminate, 3–4 mm × ca. 0.5 mm, plicate, serrulate above; costae short, double, or absent. Setae 20–30 mm long, reddish; capsules yellowish brown; endostome segments carinate; cilia 2–3, as long as the segments, nodulose. Spores 20–22 mm in diameter, papillose.
