general taxon notes:
This species is characterized by the falcate-secund leaves with distinctly recurved leaf margins, costae long and separate at base, and the stem leaves with thick-walled and porose cells.

Plants medium-sized, pale yellowish green or pale brownish green, somewhat glossy. Stems prostrate, up to 7 cm long, regularly pinnately branched, rarely remotely branched; stem elliptic in cross section; leafy stems flattened, secund, similar to Hypnum species; branches flattened, irregularly branched, ca. 1 cm long; pseudoparaphyllia lanceolate, 5–7 cells wide at base. Stem leaves distinctly differentiated; dorsal leaves falcate-secund, lanceolate, 2.7–2.9 mm × 0.60–0.75 mm, slenderly acuminate, nearly cordate and plicate at base; margins slightly recurved, irregularly serrulate above; costae double, reaching to 1/4–1/3 the leaf length, separate at base; median leaf cells linear-rhomboidal, 60–80 µm × 2–3 µm, thick-walled, porose, smooth; alar cells distinctly differentiated, in 6–8 longitudinal rows, 8–10 transverse rows; ventral leaves plane at apex; branch leaves narrowly lanceolate, 1.6–2.0 mm × 0.35–0.45 mm. Inner perichaetial leaves twisted or reflexed at apex, costae 2 or indistinct, cells thick-walled. Setae 2.5–3.0 cm long; capsules horizontal, cylindrical, slightly curved, 2.2–2.8 mm × 0.9–1.2 mm. Spores 18–22 µm in diameter.
