Plants stiff, rather robust, green, not glossy, in dense tufts. Stems simple, erect, ca. 3–6 cm high, with dense, brownish rhizoids at base. Leaves crowded at stem apex, flexuous when dry, spreading when moist, plane, not undulate, broadly obovate or broadly elliptical, ca. 7.0 mm × 5.0 mm, narrowed and not decurrent at base, rounded to obtuse or apiculate at apex; margins plane, entire, slightly yellowish, bordered by 3–5 rows of elongate cells; costae ending just below the apex; leaf cells transparent, hexagonal, median cells 90–110 µm × 66–95 µm, juxtacostael cells larger, cells becoming much smaller near the margins; marginal cells linear, 140–190 µm × 7–9 µm, irregularly thickened, clearly porose. Dioicous. Setae solitary, 1.8–4.0 cm long; capsules ovoid-cylindrical, 3–4 mm × 1.3–1.5 mm, horizontal or pendulous.
