Plants medium-sized to rather robust, dark green tinged with reddish brown, in loose tufts. Stems erect, simple, 2.5–6.0 cm high, with reddish brown rhizoids at base. Leaves crowded at the top of stems, twisted when dry, spreading when moist, oblong-ovate, 4–6 mm × 2.0–3.5 mm, undulate, narrower at base, gradually acute at apex; margins distinctly bordered by 3–4 rows of linear cells, double-toothed; costae percurrent to shortly excurrent, with sharp teeth at back; leaf cells hexagonal in regularly diagonal rows. Dioicous. Setae clustered, 1.0–1.5 cm long, yellowish; capsules pendulous, ovoid-cylindrical. Spores not seen.
