Plants small or rarely large, brownish green, in loose tufts. Stems reddish, erect, usually 1–2 cm high, simple. Leaves dense, rounded-ovate, asymmetric, usually secund, 2.5–4.5 mm × 1.0–1.8 mm, gradually acuminate with a slender apex, narrowed and slightly decurrent at base; margins distinctly bordered by 3–4 rows of linear cells, double-toothed; costae percurrent, with sharp teeth at back; leaf cells rather small, hexagonal, quadrate or somewhat rounded, 15–25 µm wide, not in regularly diagonal arrangement. Dioicous. Setae solitary, 1.5–2.2 cm long; capsules erect or inclined, ovoid or ellipsoidal, ca. 5–6 mm × 2.1–2.3 mm.
