Plants medium-sized to rather robust, bright green or pale green, in loose or dense mats. Stems prostrate, to 8 cm long, irregularly branched, with rhizoids scattered; branches ascending, julaceous, attenuate at tips. Leaves densely imbricate, rounded-ovate, 1.0–1.5 mm × 0.8–1.2 mm, strongly concave, acute, often apiculate at apex, cordate, slightly decurrent at base; margins nearly entire, sometimes serrulate near apex; costae single, slender, ending at mid-leaf; median leaf cells narrowly rhombic to rhomboidal, 25–40 µm × 5–8 µm; alar cells shortly rectangular or hexagonal, thin-walled or somewhat thick-walled. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves ovate-lanceolate, shortly acuminate. Setae 10–30 mm long, reddish brown, smooth; capsules suberect, elongate-ellipsoidal, curved, reddish brown, blackish when old; stomata present; opercula obliquely long rostrate; annuli developed; peristome double; exostome teeth linear-lanceolate, papillose above, cross-striolate at base; endostome segments as long as the teeth, keeled, perforate, filiform above; cilia 2. Calyptrae cucullate, smooth. Spores spherical, roughened.
