Plants small, green, glossy, in compact mats. Stems rarely branched or irregularly branched; branches elongate and slender. Leaves not appressed, erect or slightly curved, lanceolate, less than 1 mm long, long acuminate, concave; margins plane; leaf cells oblong to shortly fusiform, 30–60 mm × 4–5 mm; alar region triangular, consisting of a few inflated cells at base, numerous slightly inflated, colored or often hyaline cells. Gemmae axillary, filiform, consisting of a series of rectangular, thick-walled, brownish and papillose cells. Inner perichaetial leaves twice as long as the vegetative leaves, gradually constricted into a long acuminate apex, serrulate or entire. Setae ca. 15 mm, smooth; capsules erect, ellipsoidal, ca. 1 mm long; opercula long rostrate; exothecial cells more or less collenchymatous; peristome fragile.
