Plants in mats. Stems and branches long and slender, sometimes up to 3 cm long. Branch leaves complanate, lanceolate, 1.0–1.5 mm long, acuminate; margins plane, weakly toothed or nearly entire; leaf cells elongated to linear; alar cells numerous, rectangular, thick-walled, colored, isodiametric. Sporophytes not seen.
