Plants very small, ca. 7 mm high, yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems erect, simple, rarely branched, often radiculose at the base. Leaves contorted when dry, erect-spreading when moist, narrowly ovate-lanceolate to narrow-ligulate, rounded obtuse at apex; margins entire, undulate; costa stout, percurrent; upper leaf cells small, rounded-hexagonal, rather thick-walled, obscure, coarsely multi-papillose; basal cells differentiated, often larger, rectangular, smooth, hyaline, sometimes forming a V-shaped base. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves enlarged, sheathing at base. Setae ca. 20 mm long, reddish, smooth; capsules erect, cylindrical; peristome filiform, twisted, densely papillose; opercula conic-rostrate with a long oblique beak. Spores yellowish, smooth.
