general taxon notes:
This species is close to Pohlia leucostoma, but differs in lacking gemmae and in having lax leaf cells.

Trop. Bryol. 10: 67. 1995. Mniobryum tapintzense (Besch.) Broth., Nat. Pflanzenfam. I(3): 553. 1903. Webera tapintzensis Besch., Rev. Bryol. 18: 89. 1891. Type: China. Yunnan, Da-li Co., Tapintzé, Delav 2303.
Plants medium-sized, 15–20 mm high, yellowish green, not glossy, in tufts. Stems simple or branched, loosely foliate. Leaves flexuous when dry, spreading when moist, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, ca. 1.5 mm × 0.3 mm, upper leaves smaller; margins plane, serrulate above the middle, not or indistinctly bordered by 1–2 rows, somewhat narrower cells; costae reddish brown, ending nearly in the apex; median leaf cells lax, narrowly rhomboidal to linear, 105–175 µm × 12–29 µm, thin-walled; apical cells shorter; basal cells not much differentiated from the median cells. Gemmae absent. Dioicous. Sporophytes not seen.
