Thuidium venustulum Besch., Ann. Sci., Nat. Bot., ser. 7, 15: 78. 1892. Type. China: Yunnan, Tsin-choui-ho, Delavay 4635 (holotype BM).
 
Plants small, yellowish green, in small loose patches. Stems prostrate, bipinnately branched; paraphyllia minute, only growing on stems, papillose. Stem leaves remote, ca. 0.5 mm long, shortly acuminate; margins serrate;
costa ending 2/3 the leaf length; median leaf cells rounded rectangular, ca. 7 µm wide, centrally unipapillose; branch leaves oblong-ovate, ca. 0.3 mm long. Monoicous. Sporophytes on main stems. Perichaetial leaves oblong-lanceolate, with narrow apices. Setae erect, rough above, ca. 1 cm long; capsules erect, ovoid; peristome Hypnum-type; exostome teeth and endostome segments in equal length; segments keeled, perforated; basal membrane ca. half the height of the segment; cilia 2, nodulose.
