Description Shrub 3-4 m tall with a silver-grey appearance. Young stems greyish brown, silvery felty. Leaves grey-green covered with fine silvery hairs, with c. 9-12 pairs of leaflets, often alternate. Flowers in pseudoracemes near the stem apex. Flowers c. 20 mm tall; standard bright scarlet red, with white eye and fine rays, whitish-hairy behind; wings scarlet, appressed to the keel; keel scarlet. Calyx greenish with 5 small, spreading teeth. Pods pale brown with a fine whitish felty indumentum explosively spirally dehiscent. Seeds pale brown, kidney-shapped. Leaves used against stomach complaints - diuretic.
Locality 13 km north of Beraketa, Route Nationale 13 to Ihosy.
