Description A thin-stemmed shrub to c. 3 m tall, pushing through dense shrubby vegetation; leaves with 2-6 pairs of leaflets (plus a terminal leaflet); leaflets deep green and matt above, always deeply notched apically, paler beneath. Flowers in slender racemes from a brachyblasts on the main stem. or terminal amongst the leaves, tangerine orange; calyx green, inflated with 4 triangular teeth, the upper tooth forked; standard recurved, orange, with a green, irregular, basal eye, with brown, appressed hairs behind; wings appressed to the keel, tangerine orange with a slender, darker orange tip. Pods old, spirally dehiscent.
Locality SE of Antsiranana (Diego Suarez), Reserve Speciale d'Analamerana, S of the village of Irodo, near Antafiamantsina at the mouth of the Irodo River.
