Description Shrub, straggling, upright, to c. 3 m tall; bark grey-brown, slightly flaking; young shoots red-brown, with pale lenticels. Leaves of 4-6 pairs of pinnae, with a green discoid gland between the first pair. Leaflets mid green, becoming darker bluish green, similar on both surfaces. Leaf bases dichotomous on short shoots, forming flattened, bract-like structures. Flower heads 1 or 2 from short shoots, 2 cm in diameter, slightly elongated, honey scented. Calyx pale green, c. 2.5 mm long. Corolla cream, 4.5 mm long. Filaments white with minute orange anthers.
Locality 5 km S of Tongobory, Route Nationale 10 to Betioky and Taolanaro (Fort Dauphin). Open, grazed vegetation of grazed shrubs and small trees, including Dichrostachys (M113). On sandy red soil. Infrequent.
