Description Usually an infrequently branched shrub c. 1-3 m tall, sometimes forming a small tree; stems purplish green with a white bloom, smooth. Leaves grey-green, similar above and beneath; pinnae c. 13-20 pairs, with a small gland between each pair; rachises whitish-pubescent. Heads in axillary (and apparently terminal) racemes, numerous, dense, sulphur yellow, 6-8 mm in diameter, the styles exerted for c. 1 mm (filaments, calyx, corolla and anthers all sulphur yellow). Flowers prolific.
Locality Ankaratra Massif (southern end), c. 24 km W of Ambatolampy, c. 5 km south of Tsiafajavona Mountain, on "Route de Pomme de Terre." Hillsides and banks dominated by this shrub which is cut for thin poles and charcoal. Common over much of the high plateau.
